C. Dion Bush, Psy. D, L.C.P.C.
Dr. C. Dion Bush guides our team in Lombard with a big heart and a vast array of education and experience. A native of the Chicago area, Dr. Bush has over fifteen years of clinical experience working with youth and their families as a Psychologist and Counselor.
As Program Manager, Dr. Bush supports our therapists by overseeing their work and providing expert feedback in the interest of continually improving the services we offer. He acts as a lead consultant for our treatment team, overseeing all of the treatment plans they develop and assuring that they meet the highest possible clinical standards.
Dr. Bush began his academic career with the knowledge that he wanted to help others. At Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois he participated in multiple outreach programs including the Bill Glass Ministries and the National City Ministries, where he was stationed in Watts, California as a community counselor for underprivileged children. Upon completion of his undergraduate work, Dr. Bush entered Wheaton College’s graduate program in Clinical Psychology, simultaneously beginning his career as a psychiatric counselor at Central Du Page Hospital.
At this time Dr. Bush moved to Southern California where he gained invaluable experience working with severely emotionally disturbed children in the foster care system. There he provided children with individual and group therapy and met with families in order to facilitate reunification and family adoptions. During his time in San Diego, Dr. Bush also worked with individuals suffering from substance abuse and co-occurring disorders.
Dr. Bush continued to further his education by earning a second Masters Degree in Applied Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology in San Diego, CA. His academic career culminated in the completion of his doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from the same institution with a double concentration in Forensic Psychology and Family Therapy.
Upon his return to Chicago, Dr. Bush served as Staff Psychologist and Assistant Professor at Chicago State University. In his role as a university professor, Dr. Bush supervised student social workers, masters level and pre-doctoral candidate-therapists. He also provided psychological and counseling services to the university’s student population and taught numerous classes in topics ranging from Developmental Psychology to Treatment Interventions With Inner City Youth.
Dr. Bush’s talent for working with families and children, coupled with his impressive curriculum vitae, makes him an ideal candidate for Program Manager at Adolescent Growth. His areas of interest include helping families in crisis, solving academic problems, bullying, health and fitness struggles as well as self image and spiritual identity issues.
When he is not working, Dr. Bush enjoys movies, motorcycles and enjoying any and all live music venues.
