Assistant Program Manager

As the Assistant Program Manager, Shirley utilizes her strong clinical skills to help adolescents gain a newfound sense of confidence and self-worth. She has an unwavering commitment to make a meaningful difference by helping individuals identify their strengths and build specific skills to maintain the gains achieved in therapy. Shirley is a caring clinician who provides both insightful individual/family sessions and she facilitates impactful Parenting Support Workshops weekly. Her clinical expertise is also relied upon as she gives direction to the treatment staff.

Shirley joined the Adolescent Growth team with a wealth of experience working with adolescents. Prior to beginning her journey here, Shirley counseled a range of populations in various clinical settings including the State of Florida Corrections Department, the Naval Air Station in Jacksonville, FL, Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services, Regional Mental Health Center in East Chicago Indiana and in private practice in Oakbrook, IL.

Academically, Shirley attended Roosevelt University in Chicago, and in an effort to quench her thirst for understanding how to help others that were hurting, she advanced and obtained her Master’s Degree of Divinity in Family and Pastoral Counseling from the illustrious Fuller Theological Seminary and a second Master of Science in Marital and Family Therapy also from Fuller Theological Seminary, in Pasadena, CA. Shirley is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and her degrees provide her with the invaluable skill set to aid the clients we serve at Adolescent Growth.

Shirley discloses that she likes working at Adolescent Growth because, “I am passionate about helping young people who have emotional and behavioral struggles. Adolescent Growth gives me the opportunity to follow my passion and use my clinical skills to help young people overcome mental health challenges”.

Shirley enjoys the finer things in life. She has an innate sense of style which is seen in her ability to decorate (interior design). Also, in her free time, Shirley appreciates being able to travel and enjoy a visit to a good spa.
