If medications are currently prescribed, participants are typically encouraged to continue seeing their psychiatrist for medication management and their medical doctor to maintain any current physical regimes being treated. We will request that releases be signed so that we secure collaboration and continuity of care. Being medically stable is a requirement for participation in IOP.
Although there is a great deal of progress that can be gained from our residential and partial day treatment programs, IOP is a great opportunity to further facilitate the growth that has begun in these higher levels of care. Moreover, IOP can serve as a refresher for persons that obtained treatment in the past but feel that they are starting to get off their path and need some assistance that will not impede their current commitments.
IOP is a relatively short term treatment. The exact duration varies depending upon each individual’s need. Typically IOP lasts for about eight weeks. This number can certainly be increased based upon need. Upon intake a discharge coordinator is assigned to each client who will start preparing the discharge plan within 72 hours of admit. The discharge plan is a detailed report that includes discharge appointments, recommendations for after care, telephone hotline numbers, potentially stressful situations to avoid, coping skills that have worked in treatment and discharge recommendations.
The funding source for IOP is typically the insurance company. Growth Extended employs an entire department solely devoted to working with the insurance company, the Utilization Review Department (UR). The UR specialist will communicate with the insurance on a weekly basis to maintain current authorization for treatment. The insurance company provides ongoing authorization based upon the client meeting their medical necessity criteria. At Growth Extended it is our aim to partner with our clients to give hope on this recovery journey.
Our IOP proudly holds the gold seal of accreditation from the Joint Commission, providing a standard of excellence in the healthcare field that is unmatched by any other form of endorsement. Our caring staff in IOP are invested in seeing our clients progress.
If you or someone you know is in need of intensive outpatient services, an admissions team member is prepared to take your call and help you get your life back on track.
