As a central member of the clinical team at the Lombard location, Donita is delighted to share the knowledge, experience and training she has received with Adolescent Growth and the community served. Donita was drawn to Adolescent Growth because of the warm inviting atmosphere that is pervasive throughout the facility. Since joining the team, Donita has devoted herself and all her efforts to nurturing and empowering youth who are dealing with the challenges of adolescence through individual, family and group therapy. Donita also aids in spearheading the Parenting Support Workshops and facilitates this psycho-educational support group for parents in an exceptional and challenging manner.

Academically, Donita initially received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from Ashford University with a Minor in Sociology, with a Specialization in Integrative Health and Wellness. She continued her quest for knowledge and later received a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northwestern University, an Ivy league school. The extraordinary educational guidance Donita received there has equipped her as she works closely with the psychiatrist and other clinical persons impacting and transforming lives. Donita is driven by her passion for adolescents. Having worked in the helping profession for over 10 years provides Donita with a level of expertise that is superior to others. She brings a great deal of knowledge and experience teaching, serving as a social worker, providing direction and running treatment facilities addressing youth and young adults. Donita desires to restore families and help them find peace, joy, and an everyday life fulfillment.

Donita finds working for Adolescent Growth to be very rewarding and provides her the opportunity to serve a diverse group of adolescents and their families. She mostly enjoys the opportunity to apply her clinical skills into practice in a manner that empowers clients to draw from their own intrinsic values to impact real change in their lives. Donita believes that Adolescent Growth contributes to her approach to provide clients with the care, compassion, positive regard and support they need to overcome the reasons they are seeking treatment. Moreover, Donita affirms that she enjoys working here because of the multidimensional nature of the interventions provided. “The multiple modalities of services, including individual and group therapy for the adolescents, as well as the in depth family sessions that are so impactful make every day unique and rewarding “. Donita is compassionate, competent and driven in her life’s calling to be a catalyst of change for hurting teenagers and their families.

In her spare time, Donita enjoys participating in providing lifestyle, career, health and wellness coaching, creative writing/blogging and talent marketing. Also, when Donita is not on duty serving our clients here at Adolescent Growth, she enjoys adventurous travel with her family and spending quality time caring for her 15 year old daughter, her three sons (age 32, 30, and 17) along with her 2 grandchildren ages 5 and 9 (with one on the way due in December).
